Why the 2010 IKEA catalogue hurts my eyes...
Does this years IKEA catalogue look a little visually cheap to you?
Now I know why!
They have changed the typeface to Verdana for consistency in all languages and online.
After working for IKEA in the past for over 5 years and being really proud of its visual standards, it make my eyes weep a little…

The Futura type is part of the brand – defines a Euro centric modernist style. Verdana type decision says ‘corporate committee decision’ to me. Only slightly better than Arial?
